Linkup and Agence France-Presse (AFP) have signed an agreement that makes AFP news dispatches available to Linkup's enterprise partners, through the same API they already use to search the web.
What it solves
AI agents now read the web on behalf of people. They summarise the news, monitor markets, answer customer questions and draft decisions. What they read determines what they say, and most of what they read today is whatever ranks on the open web: syndicated copies, aggregators, content written to be retrieved rather than to be right.
The people who produce verified, first-hand reporting sit outside that loop. Their work reaches AI systems late, stripped of attribution, or not at all. Enterprises deploying agents want a trusted source of verified information they can rely on. Publishers want their journalism to reach these new readers on terms they define. Neither has had a simple way to connect.
This agreement is one answer. Enterprise partners can query AFP dispatches directly through the Linkup API, alongside Linkup's web index, and get verified, attributed journalism as a first-class source with no ingestion pipeline to build.
Early demand comes from two directions. Financial firms want a dated, consistent news feed to power sentiment analysis and event monitoring across markets and languages. Large enterprises deploying AI assistants want to decide which sources those assistants draw on.
“Working with Linkup lets us bring AFP journalism to a new generation of enterprise products, products that need first-hand verified news, from an undisputable source, and need it fast. There is no greater challenge than getting this right if accuracy is the game.” - Patrice Monti, Sales & Marketing Director, AFP
“AFP's motto is ‘Facts Matter’. That is also the problem every serious AI application has to solve: a model is only as good as what it retrieves. Our job at Linkup is to give AI systems the best possible view of the world, and that view has to include journalism produced by people on the ground, checked and attributed. With AFP, our enterprise partners get exactly that, through the same API they already use.” - Boris Toledano, Co-founder and COO, Linkup
The start of something bigger
AFP is the first partner of this kind, and the model is built to repeat. Linkup is assembling a layer where premium sources, from news agencies to specialised publishers and data providers, become available to AI agents on the rights holders' own terms: licensed, attributed, and approved use case by use case. Web search gives agents breadth. This layer gives them sources worth trusting. We will have more to share on it in the coming week.
